Low-Nitrosamine Accelerator for Tire Tread: TBzTD-70 Masterbatch Guide

Sep 09, 2026 Beihua

For tire tread compounds, the accelerator must balance fast cure, scorch safety and regulatory compliance. This guide focuses on TBzTD-70 masterbatch as a low-nitrosamine alternative to TMTD/TT in NR, SBR and BR-based tire treads.

Why Low-Nitrosamine Matters

During vulcanization, thiuram accelerators can form N-nitrosamines, which are of concern under EU regulations. TBzTD (tetrabenzylthiuram disulfide) releases significantly lower nitrosamine levels, making it a preferred choice for export-oriented tire makers.

TBzTD-70-(2)

Recommended Dosage

Typical use level is 0.5–1.5 phr, often in combination with a sulfenamide primary accelerator (CBS/NS or TBBS/NS) at 0.8–1.5 phr. Final dosage should be determined by laboratory cure rheometry.

Applications

Passenger and truck tire treads, retread compounds, and other NR/SBR/BR-based profiles requiring improved vulcanizate properties.
